September 2013, around 450 Afghan asylum seekers, including women and children, set up a makeshift camp inside the Beguinage church in Brussels. They plead for protection and demand the Belgian government for a moratorium on deportations towards Afghanistan and legal residency in Belgium.

After months of common fight, the success is not collective. The undocumented afghans have been invited to individually reintroduce new asylum requests and have mostly been placed in different refugee centers to wait for a new decision. Few remained in the church, those who already (and again) got denied asylum.
